Product Family

What is Product Family​

Product Family is a way of categorizing products that you input into the culinarysuite system. This helps inform users of the type of products that are coming in from vendors and what family of products they are associated with. For example, you may want to create product families for “ice cream” “frozen” “refrigerated” “pizza” “raw” “eggs” Etc. This allows for more efficient categorization of products and helps with storing items in the same family in the right places.

  1. Click on Configuration on the main navigation menu. Locate Master and click on it.

  2. A new screen appears which shows the list of all of the core master tables. Locate the one which says Product Family and click on it.

  3. This will open a screen where you can see all the active and inactive product families that are available for your company.

Add a Product Family​

  1. Click the add button on the top right side of the screen.

  1. The system will open a popup screen in which you can fill in the following fields

    Mandatory fields are indicated by the * next to the name

    1. Product Family name *: Provide the name you would like to use for this Product Family.

  2. Click the save button. The Product Family name will be active by default.

Modify or change status of Product Family​

Modify Product Family​

  1. lick on the pencil icon next to the Product Family that you would like to modify.

  2. You may make changes to the Product Family name regardless of whether the Product Family is currently in use throughout the system.

Change status of Product Family​

  1. If you would like to change the status of an existing Product Family to active or inactive, you will first need to look at the “change status” Column where you will find either a grey or green shaded circle.

  2. Click on the circle to either activate or deactivate the Product Family.

    Note

    If the Product Family is already mapped in the system, you cannot deactivate the Product Family until you unmap it everywhere in your system. If this kind of modification is needed you may need to reach out to technical services to discuss the situation and they can direct you further

  3. You will be presented with a menu where you will be asked if you want to activate or deactivate the specified Product Family.

  4. Click yes to save your changes.
